Tribute for PO. Felix Alexander
Hero of the NYPD to die in the Line of Duty.
Angels have long been believed to possess the power to protect, console and heal, especially during difficult times. This particular image, based on the Guardian Angel Saint Michael was chosen for its inspiring beauty, strength and courage, qualities that characterize Police Officers everywhere who risk their lives every day to help others in their times of need.
Blessed are the peace makers: for they shall be called children of God....Mat 5:9
Felix Alexander was dedicated to public service with 12 years as a police officer by age 31.

Drunk Driver Causes Fatal Crash
Name : Felix Alexander
Rank: P.O.
Shield #: 12104 Command: 33rd Pct.
Date of Death: 02.07.07
Cause of Death: Killed by Drunk Driver

Felix Alexander was well liked and loved, by everyone, his family and Dominican community, his fellow police officers, and his wife, who is due to give birth to their first baby just days away, a life brought to tragic end by a the irresponsible and senseless actions of a drunk driver. Kevin Tasado was charged DWI, vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and reckless endangerment, police said.

Felix's distraught father, Andres, 48, said penalties against drunken drivers should be tougher.

Members of Felix's large Dominican family tried to console him as he wept outside his son's apartment.

"The way I raised my son is to be a good human being. I've got a broken heart right now."

Grieving relatives who gathered at Felix's home four blocks away said he had spent the evening with a friend painting a room for the new baby, which is due next month.

"Two weeks ago, it was his wife's baby shower,” said his stepmother Vera Hernandez. “And yesterday, his grandmother was telling me that he was fixing the room. He was fixing the crib and everything. I don't know.”

"He was not a bad person. He was a cop, you know. He was a cop. Everybody wants to grow up to be a cop, fireman or doctor,” said his brother Andersen Felix. “Everybody wanted to grow up and be somebody like that. And look my brother's dead. I can't believe it. I can't believe this man."

NYPD Police Officers and friends of Felix Alexander gather where he was killed, a makeshift memorial marking the spot.
